Reflection report for week 1of school internship phase 1(29 July-2August).
Week 1 Reflection: Beginning the Teaching Journey (29 July - 2 August, 2024)
This week marked the start of my teaching internship, and it was a truly enriching and exciting experience. On 29th July, I began my journey by meeting with the principal in charge and the teaching staff, who warmly welcomed me. Exploring the school compound helped me become familiar with the environment where I would be working. My assigned class was 8D, and I had an engaging first session, getting to know the students while establishing a connection with them. I introduced the topic of the crust as part of the chapter "In Search of Earth's Secrets."
On 30th July, I continued with the topic, moving on to the mantle. The students were cooperative, and their enthusiastic participation made the lesson enjoyable and interactive. Incorporating various activities helped maintain their interest and involvement throughout the class.
On 31st July, I taught the core, focusing on its structure and significance within the Earth. The next day, 1st August, I introduced the concept of igneous rocks, using visual aids and activities to enhance their understanding.
On Friday, 2nd August, the school organized a special assembly to honor the victims of the Wayanad tragedy by lighting candles. It was a poignant and reflective moment, bringing together the school community in solidarity. In class, I taught sedimentary rocks and also managed a substitution class.
Overall, this week was a fulfilling and memorable start to my teaching journey. Each day brought new learning experiences, interactions, and positive engagement with the students. I look forward to continuing this journey, growing further in my role, and fostering meaningful learning experiences.
