Teaching Practice Weekly Report-week 8
Teaching Practice Weekly Report – Week 8 (October 7th–10th, 2024)
Monday, October 7, 2024
The eighth week of my teaching practice began with a morning assembly. During the second period, I taught Class 8D, focusing on the topics Palai, Marutham, and Neythal. Surya, a mentor from Mount Tabor Training College, observed my class. Later, during the sixth period, I had a substitution class with 8D, where I introduced the topic of the exchange system using the group investigation model. The class was interactive, and the students participated actively.

I did not have any classes due to Kalolsavam, the school arts festival. Music competitions were conducted throughout the day, providing a vibrant cultural experience for the students and teachers.

The second day of Kalolsavam continued with various dance performances. The atmosphere was lively, and I participated in the event as an observer, appreciating the talents displayed by the students.

During the first period, I taught Class 8D about the Moovendans. After completing the chapter on Ancient Tamilakam, I presented my innovative work to the students. The focus of the innovation was the comparison between modern life and ancient Tamil life. I used a model to showcase the differences, and the students were asked to identify and describe features of both lifestyles. This activity encouraged critical thinking and observation, making the lesson more engaging.
Reflection:
This week was a mix of teaching, cultural celebrations, and innovative activities. Despite the reduced number of teaching days, the sessions were productive, and the students showed enthusiasm, especially during the innovative activity. Observations from my mentor provided constructive feedback for improvement.
